I’m involved in helping run a christian youth event in Derby called Fuel, and the leaders asked me to design a fresh set of promotion material for it. The idea is that each cross represents a young person and they are being gathered from the margins to read FUEL, its a coming together. No flickering flames in sight!

One of my (Andy) projects was featured recently on the Central Station Blog – ‘Top 5: Typographic Treasures’. They chose my depiction of Ghandi using some of his famous quotes to make up his portrait. I’m hoping to continue the concept into a series, so watch this space. Personal poster project.

At CCT we work with a number of theatre companies, and we got to work on the promotional material for Trade Secrets Theatre Company’s latest production; BitterSweet, Out of this World. The play has quite a dark theme to it, so we decided to go for a dramatic photo of one of the lead characters who plays the devil, and asked him to look intense. I think we captured the drama we were hoping for!

The Director dropped a copy of the flyer into BBC Radio Derby, and within half an hour got a phonecall saying they loved the publicity material and would she come on radio for an interview to talk about the production. RESULT!

After our bacon cob ventures at the Banks Mill Open Studios, we had become aware of a certain smell that remained in the office, especially when we arrive in the morning. The smell wasn’t going away very fast, and a solution needed to be found.

Fortunately Pete knew the answer… Yankee Candle! I’ve never heard of them, but they have a shop in Derby and Pete told us they may some really cool scented candles which would fill the room with fresh aroma. So we went to the shop and got the Gingerbread flavour, and now the office smells of freshly baked Gingerbread. Genius!

I’m going to get some for my house, and just thinking about it, it’s a great christmas present! Check out www.yankeecandle.co.uk
